Myoko Ski Lodge Reviews

2019-2020 SKI SEASON

Karen O - Australia - Mar 2020

Our first family snowboarding holiday in Japan and we spent 14 nights here at Myoko Ski Lodge and we couldn't have landed in a better place! Not only are Geoff and Tania some of the most hospitable people to meet, they also really know this town and headed us in just the right direction again and again.

We shared a bunk room with our two boys (11 and 13) and were really comfortable for the entire stay. The shared spaces around the lodge are well thought out to give you as much peace and quiet or social time as you like. We really felt at home the whole time.

We walked a block down the road for a great selection of eating options when we wanted to dine out, and Tania helped us through the local supermarket for supplies to dine in.

We could easily spend another week here and still not do all the runs + restaurants we'd like to!

Carmen F - Australia - Mar 2020

Myoko Ski Lodge is one of the coolest, friendliest, cleanest, and most comfortable lodges I’ve ever stayed in. Hosts Tanya and Jeff go out of their way to make u feel welcome and transport u round the many ski fields and other attractions (like snow monkeys) this area has to offer. Breakfast was amazing, their snacks and drinks on offer all u want if ur peckish or thirsty, and the two private onsens much needed after a long day on the slopes on runs up to 8.5km long. This is a place you’ll definitely want to come back to! A great place to stay (great other guests too!

Lennart S - Sweeden - Feb 2020

Precis det rätta boendet för vår familj. Fantastiskt servicevänligt och personligt.

Translation: Just the right accommodation for our family. Fantastic service friendly and personal. Thank you Lennart family. We loved having you and look forward to seeing you again in the future, minus the injury.

Samantha L - Australia - Feb 2020

Staff super friendly, helpful and accommodating. Very comfortable lodge with awesome atmosphere. Amazing location. Can’t wait to go back!

Nigel C - Australia - Jan 2020

Nicely located on the edge of the village uphill and very close to lift access... walk out, ski home. Geoff and Tanya and staff very friendly, helpful and amusing... very switched on to local conditions, events and terrain... close to bars and restaurants... in house shuttle, has two genuine hot spring onsens which I recommend to start and finish the day’s riding... great commercial kitchen for preparing your own food if you wish... secure drying and equipment room... and when I was there, fun and interesting guests from all walks and countries... had a ball, and I was travelling alone.

Patrick Phuong - Australia - Jan 2020

Tania and Jeff were wonderful. They looked after our family very well

Meeri S - Finland - Jan 2020

Amazing place with amazing people! Absolutely one of the best accommodations I have ever stayed at: common kitchen and own shelves for groceries for each room, beautifull onsens with shampoo, conditioner and bathrobes, great advices and ideas for skiing and other activities etc. Special thanks to Tania, Geoff, Chelsea and rest of the staff for making us feel welcome and enjoy our stay!

Michael Burkholder - Austalia - Dec 2020

Geoff and Tania are super friendly hosts who will make you feel very welcome. The rooms are great, the common area is huge, and the breakfast is fantastic. The location is really close to the lifts for Akakura Onsen and Akakura Kanko. We also love that you can enjoy the private baths with your friends and/or family.

Ruth W - Great Britain - Dec 2020

This place was amazing. Very homey, great Onsen bathrooms, huge lounge to chill out in, comfy beds, awesome breakfast and most of all two wonderful hosts who go out of their way to look after you. If it’s available... book it now!

Greg Blackman - Australia - Mar 2019

Tania and Geoff make this place feel like home. It's cosy, has everything you need,(including it's own Onsens), and they go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay.  It's like staying with friends who know the local area and customs. Highly recommend MSL if visiting Myoko.

Bradley - Australia - Mar 2019

  • Feels warm, home away from home.

  • Friendly and approachable. Great local knowledge of the area. Went out of their way to make my stay great.

Will P - Australia - Feb 2019

Hey Tania and Geoff. Thanks a zillion for having the boys and I. Super shame about the weather but sometimes you can't help these things. We had the time of our lives in Myoko and can't thank you enough for everything you did for us while we were there. Can't wait to see you again soon.

Steven P - Australia - Feb 2019

Best place we stayed in Japan! Super clean, super organised, very comfortable beds and rooms, great onsen's, yummy breakie, awesome common area and best of all.....the hosts go above and beyond to give guests an amazing experience during their stay! Couldn't recommend this place enough to anyone heading to Japan to hit the slopes.

Jordan B - Australia - Feb 2019

Was rad, our hosts went above and beyond for us. Will be back asap.

Jordy W- Australia - Feb 2019

10/10 best place in myoko

Tiegan K - Australia - Feb 2019

Geoff and Tania have created such a great atmosphere at their lodge. There are spaces to hang out quietly as well as in huge groups. They were always willing to go above and beyond to create a memorable experience for everyone staying there. 10/10 recommend to anyone.

TJ Balon - Australia - Feb 2019

Great hosts, great atmosphere, and amazing snow! Thanks so much Geoff, Tania and family! Highly recommendable to anyone from families to pros!

Connor - Australia, Feb 2019

The location is incredible!

Anonymous - Feb 2019

I was travelling alone for this part of the trip and the side-country tag-alongs were exactly what I was after. - Reasonably priced back-country equipment hire. - Reasonably priced chips, beer etc, - The kitchen and main room of the lodge is really large and perfect for sharing stories over a few beers and edamame at the end of the day. - The on-site onsen is perfect after a long day's skiing.

Michael - Japan - Feb 2019

Positive - The people, the Onsen and the breakfast! Only problem, we arrived at the local train station latish (10ish) on the Friday night and the ski lodge wouldn't pick us up, so had to wait about 30 minutes for a taxi.

Anonymous - Feb 2019

Exceptional hospitality from this family run property, organizing outings for guests. Relaxing laid back lodge where you can mingle with other guests in front of the open fire after having a soak in there own private Onsen.

Teagan - Australia - Feb 2019

Awesome lodge, location and hosts! We loved our stay at Myoko Ski Lodge. It very quickly exceeded our expectations; the breakfast provided was awesome and extremely convenient, great atmosphere with a cosy, warm, large common area where you can socialise or sit to the side and enjoy a movie. 2 onsens on site were a treat and a massive drying room meant we were never going out in wet gear the next day. Geoff, Tania, Chelsea & Shannon were super friendly and were always willing to help out. 'The Shredule' was really cool and Geoffs knowledge of the local mountains was great, bonus was discounted ticket prices. Perfect location being only a short walk to the lifts and to the shops. Would highly recommend to anyone and I plan on going back!

Julian - Great Britain - Feb 2019

Fabulous ski lodge. Great location, wonderful staff and good mix of fellow guests. Couldn’t fault it.

Graham - Australia - Feb 2019

I've stayed in many places in Japan and this is the best.  You won't find better hosts that Tania and Geoff. Geoff takes you to the different ski resorts and advises all the best runs. Nice comfy beds, nice breakfast and a great lounge area for having a few beers after a good day on the snow. Only a few minutes walk to the nearest ski run and restaurants. I will be back to stay again.

Evan - Australia - Feb  2019

An amazing family running an awesome lodge. The benefits of staying here are soon realised when you see the ‘Shredule’ Along with the hosts making the inter-resort transfers a breeze at the same cost as what you’d pay for the public bus. The communal area is great and if you want to save some money and cook in the communal kitchen, everything you need is there. Otherwise just a walk into town for dinners. Having breakfast included is a great time saver. We stayed elsewhere in town that didn’t have breakfast and it seems no one in Akakura is in a hurry so it burns a lot of time trying to get breakfast and a coffee in town if you’re in a hurry to get up on the mountain. We’ll be back next year!

Kerrie M - Australia - Feb 2019

Great lodge, warm, inviting and friendly.  Our hosts Tania and Geoff were fantastic. Geoff is extremely knowledgeable of the area and the best places to ski. Even though we didn’t have the chance he was more than happy to take us out to show us the best hidden powder and places to ski. Tania is warm and welcoming and could not have been more accommodating.

Bec - Australia - Feb 2019

We’ll be back.  The staff were brilliant

Kerrie M - Australia - Jan 2019

Comfy beds, clean amenities, snacks and beverages available to purchase if you dont feel like walking into town - which of course is a great thing to do and not far. They even plan back country trips and shuttles to the other resorts close by (with a guide if you wish). Loved our 5 day stay. Will be back 😁

Anonymous - Australia - Jan 2019

Very helpful advice and service to give us the best skiing and snowboarding experience for all our levels. Very friendly family who run the lodge.

Gretel and Rich - Australia - Jan 2019

Very comfortable beds, great music playlists for all occasions, cosy yet expansive common areas and amazing host assistance.

Had a fantastic stay with Tanya and Jeff. Anything was made possible including tag-along off-piste snow trips with Jeff to experience fresh powder :) Tanya was organised yet chilled and runs a great show in the lodge!
Lounge areas were expansive yet cosy and the music playlists were thought out for every occasion. The beds were comfy and rooms had great views of the snow. The lodge was located very close to both the ski fields and town (both a very short walk) making it easy to get around. Thanks for a great trip guys!!

Rebecca - Australia - Jan 2019

Staff went above and beyond to make our stay an informative and enjoyable experience

Pauline - Australia - Jan 2019

A fantastic base to explore the Japan ski fields.  Tania and Geoff went out of their way to welcome us and make us feel at home. Their knowledge of the area and contacts made our stay so easy. They are outstanding hosts.

Niall - Australia - Jan 2019

Great family trip, amazing skiing in many mountain areas.  The breakfast was fantastic, Jeff and Tania were amazing hosts. I loved the shredule, Jeff took us out to other mountain resorts with other guests and boarded with us all day while we skied. He has excellent knowledge of the local area and made our family trip a pleasure. The atmosphere at the lodge was friendly and inclusive. We will be back again next year for sure. Highly recommended.

Robyn - Australia - Jan 2019

The lodge was cosy and the pickup service from the train station was fantastic. The location was awesome just a short walk into town or to the local ski slopes. Geoff and Tania also fantastic hosts providing us with lots of local knowledge and drop off services to other ski resorts when we needed it. They also took us to the grocery store and had essential items like snacks, chocolate and alcohol available for sale at the lodge and good prices to save us having to duck out in the cold snowy weather for supplies!! Myoko has the best snow ever!!! On top of that Geoff, Tania and family were fun people to be around and the lodge had a very friendly atmosphere

Donna - Australia - Jan 2019

Felt like you were part of their family. Lovely people. Great atmosphere.

Kaylean - Australia - Dec 2018

Great ski lodge, great Aussie hosts and welcoming atmosphere.

The friendly staff, the inside onsen after a day of skiing. The bunk rooms though not a lot of storage was fine for 4 adults. Beds were comfy.

2017-2018 SKI SEASON

Brian N - Australia, Mar 2018

Unexpectedly awesome. Will be back - Geoff & Tania are the greatest lodge owners who'll take care of anything and will come out skiing with you. It's like being at home and staying with friends.

Skae C - Australia, March 2018

Thank you to Geoff and Tania for having us for the last week of our Japan trip. You’ve absolutely nailed it with the lodge and have thought of everything to make your guests stay that little bit more special. It has a really great vibe and feels super homely. Thanks again for your hospitality (especially the endless supply of beer, kahlua and pancakes) plus the good times!

Shelly W - Australia, March 2018

Myoko ski lodge was our last stop traveling as a group of 8 around Japan, we arrived and immediately felt at home, a warm welcome from Tania and Geoff from the second we arrived. I couldn’t recommend this lodge more, the facilities are fantastic and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. We will definitely be returning to Myoko ski lodge! Thank you for having us and for everything while we stayed, we felt like part of the family!

Jared B - Australia, March 2018

Had an amazing time felt right at home, Tanya and Geoff showed us a great time!

Stephen A - Australia, Feb 2018

We will be back! - Myoko Ski Lodge is in a great location and is run by wonderful host's who will ensure you feel at home. Discount lift tickets, the option of cooking meals and 2 Onsen's on site was a bonus!

Chris - Australia, Feb 2018

Great hosts, great vibe.

Jason K - Australia, Feb 2018

Great Australian owners / hosts that go out of there way to make sure you have a fantastic time. My 4th time in Akakura boarding and defiantly found Myoko ski lodge had it all. Would not even consider going anywhere else in the future. Its just like being at home. You guys are awesome !

Vivianne - Australia, Feb 2018

A welcoming lodge that assist you to make the most of snow sports in the Myoko area - The hosts go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and fun, assisting with familiarising with the area and making the most of your ski days and discounted passes. Very accommodating hosts! Geoff goes out of his way to guide you to the best and most appropriate ski area and you can also rent back-country gear direct from him and maybe even be lucky enough to go out with him. His passion for the snow is catchy! The common areas of the lodge are fantastic, with large open fireplace, separate lounge and loads of media options and games etc. Full bar with very reasonable prices and appetisers. Great social interactions with everyone. Very friendly place to stay. The onsite onsens are GREAT! Easy walk into town and very close to one of the ski areas - almost a ski in, ski out scenario.

Craig - Australia, Feb 2018

Had a great stay and will return. Great breakfast to start the day and awesome soak in an onsen to finish. Hosts were willing and able to help us out when ever required. Close access to ski lifts and short stroll to centre of town. thanks Craig

Emily - Australia, Feb 2018

Absolutely perfect! I highly recommend staying here and I’ll definitely be returning!

Steven D - Australia, Feb 2018

Great atmosphere.

David - Australia, Feb 2018

“Could not recommend this place high enough hosts went out of there way to make your stay more comfortable. Will be back David

“Hi Tania & Geoff Thanks for all your help with me & the boys much appreciated David ”

Martin - Australia, Feb 2018

Both Tania and Geoff go out of there way to make your stay a memorable one. Tania makes the lodge feel very homely and we felt a part of something not just a tourist visiting. The evening treats were always a joy. Geoff makes sure that every guest has an adventure to satisfy the spirit. He loves the adventure as much as anyone, so we are just there to have fun, it’s was a tonne of fun. Thank you so very much and we will be back sometime in the future.

Pete & Kimmy W - Australia, Jan 2018

We had the best time at MSL between Chrissy and New Year. The Hardman Family are just the best hosts, the lodge is superb, the powder was amazing, cosy fire , full use of kitchen , general good vibe. We will be back with a heap more people next season.

Doug - Australia, Jan 2018

Friendly, family run business. Very knowledgeable on local ski areas to suit conditions and ability. Nice warm fire to sit by at night time and the onsens downstairs are great after a long day on the slopes. We will stay again.

Anna - Australia, Jan 2018

Our stay was amazing. The onsens were fantastic after a day skiing, the shared living spaces cosy and comfortable, and the kitchen was fully equipped and easy to use. It was a brilliant place to stay with our two young daughters because Jeff, Tanya, Chelsea and Shannon made us feel at home, with lots of great advice and company. Loved it so much already planning a return journey.

Owen L - Australia, Jan 2018

Fantastic place that Geoff and Tania have set up. Relaxed and friendly lodge style atmosphere with plenty of like-minded guests wanting to explore the backcountry. Great facilities and in-house onsen and perfect location for a short walk to Kanko lifts and ski back to the door.

Sally P - Australia, Jan 2018

Loved the atmosphere at the lodge. Tania and Geoff were very welcoming and it made for a relaxed stay. Everything was easy - from directions to where to ski, lift passes, breakfast, check out - all of it was no trouble. We stayed in a Japanese style room and enjoyed the slightly thicker mats and the western style pillows! The onsens were lovely after a day on the slopes, as was the chance to sit by the fire and swap ski stories with guests and Tania, Geoff, Shannon and Chelsea. Easy walk to the main street for dinner.

Linda H - Norway, Jan 2018

TLDR: book your stay at Myoko, it’s perfect!!! The stay at Myoko Ski Lodge was extremely comfortable and pleasant, and the wonderful staff will bend over backwards to make sure that their guests have everything they need. We booked a tiny room for a party of four, and were a bit nervous ahead of time how crowded it would be. It turned out to work very well, and was more than comfortable. The staff also helped us store our bulkier luggage in other places. You can ski in/ski out from both Akakura Onsen and Kanko ski resort! The lodge is also within walking distance of Akakura station, the free shuttle bus that can take you to resorts and around town, as well as the Akakura village with countless bars, cafes, ski/snowboard rentals and different shops to enjoy on down days. Whenever travel is needed outside of these areas, our wonderful hosts were happy to help getting ahold of tickets and information, or even to take us there by car. They also have plenty of local knowledge and will be happy to recommend places to eat, things to see and, most importantly of all, where the best snow will be. There is a large drying room to put all your wet gear in when you get back from skiing, so you can comfortably wake up to dry and warm boots, balaclavas, mittens and jackets every morning. The common kitchen is just what you need to cook a good meal with your friends, and there is plenty of room to sit together around tables in the dining area to enjoy it. The fireplace is constantly keeping the main area nice and cozy, where there are plenty of comfortable sofas. It’s a good place to curl up with a book or play games with your friends in the afternoons. There are also two small onsens by the showers, where it is possible to warm up and relax after a day outdoors. The included breakfasts are simple and just what you need, and make for a pleasant and easy start every morning. During our stay a masseuse came to the hotel a couple of times, as well as a yoga instructor who held a private yoga class for us. I highly recommend staying at Myoko Ski Lodge for your stay in the Myoko area, I can’t imagine any way I could have been better taken care of or more comfortable during my time there!! Thank you thank you thank you for making our stay in Myoko the best it could possibly be! Everything was perfect, and we are so grateful 😃😃

O'Brien Family - Australia, Jan 2018

Recommended for relaxed snow accommodation - Wonderful hosts! Went above and beyond to make sure we had an awesome stay. Good location to Akakura Onsen lift. The on-site onsens are very special and really good after a day skiing/boarding. Breakfast spread was good too. Lots of areas to relax, unwind, watch a movie or chat to other guests. Thanks again!

Victor W - Sweden, Jan 2018

Great Lodge and super friendly family who runs it. We spent Christmas Eve there with some friends and cooked a wonderful dinner in their kitchen. Oh yea, Mt Myoko was also epic! Got 2 meters of snow in 2 days.

Renae V - Australia, Jan 2018

Exceptional lodge with outstanding hosts - Hosts were incredibly hospitable and just all round wonderful people. Breakky was outstanding and the onsens are going to make it difficult to go back to normal showers at home.

George S - UK, Jan 2018

Perfect weekend trip from Tokyo - Run by a very friendly Australian family who have done a great job renovating this place. Clean and a great communal area with an open fire. They really go out of their way to help including shuttle runs to and from the ski run (there is also one on the door step) and to the station when available to do so. Much more flexible than the typical Japanese place such as being able to use the shower and natural onsen during the day and after checkout. Staying here also gives a 20% discount in the rental shop in town, which is a great perk. Added bonus of being given a free upgrade on the rooms too. Will certainly be back!

Renee J - Australia, Jan 2018

Very friendly.  Tania and Geoff were extremely helpful.  It was all good: - onsen - breakfast - large common area - transport to ski fields - transfer to and from train

Daichi - Japan, Jan 2018

The staff were kind and grateful. I myself can hardly speak English, but I enjoyed being able to tell various things with gestures. When I checked out, I was thankful for having snow removed when I was in trouble because the car was buried with snow.

Downer Family - Australia, Dec 2017

Our family of 4 with two kids aged 10 and 12 spent Xmas and 8 days at the lodge and it was perfect! From watching the tonnes of snow fall from the window whilst warming by the fire; listening to xmas carols and toasting s’mores or playing games provided. We unwrapped our presents from under the tree then skied until we dropped.

Private onsens are a GREAT aspect to this accommodation plus comfortable beds, spacious rooms, area to dry your gear or do some washing.

Breakfast is plentiful and Jeff, Tania and the girls go out of their way to make your stay wonderful.

Dinner options abound with a 5 minute walk to numerous restaurants or opportunities to cook your own in the kitchen. We even shared a xmas eve dinner with some really lovely Sweedish guests!

It was so easy and close to get there from Tokyo and the only disappointment is we didn’t stay long enough!

2016-2017 SKI SEASON

Nick & Michaila - Australia, Feb 2017

“Great hosts who went out of their way to make sure your stay at the lodge was 5 star. Lodge is in a fantastic location with open fire, private onsen and easy access to the mountain and offers discounted lift tickets. Amazing commercial kitchen and free continental breakfast daily made you feel right at home for a long stay.”

Chris - Australia, Feb 2017

Myoko looks like a hotel but feels like a big family home, with an incredibly friendly, communal vibe that made all of us feel like we belonged. The communal area was a gathering place for all guests and the managers, with a fireplace and plenty of space to relax, mingle with old friends and make new friends. The temporary managers, Libby and John, were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They picked some of us up from the bus stop, and others from Myoko train station, and were full of advice and help whenever we needed it (e.g. booking restaurants). The location was convenient to both the snow fields and to restaurants for end-of-day relaxing. For those on a budget, the commercial-quality kitchen is great and includes a heap of food essentials and a well stocked, self-serve bar. Breakfast was a simple western style buffet.

Mat - New Zealand, Feb 2017

We loved our stay at Myoko Ski Lodge! Was our favourite accom' out of the 5 places we stayed for sure. John and Libby were awesome, made it real easy staying with fellow kiwis! Awesome Kiwi hosts that were ultra accommodating and super helpful.

Christine - Japan, Feb 2017

Great friendly people! Amazing place. Onsen/hot springs are wonderful!

Tim - Singapore, Feb and Mar 2017

“Great place. Good mix of Japanese and western accommodation and a great location. Hosts made it very enjoyable. Love the communal kitchen and the apre-ski onsens! We'll definitely come back and recommend Myoko Ski Lodge to friends! ”  We came went and came back.

Jake and Ali - Japan, Feb 2017

“Fantastic lodge. Hosts stayed up late to greet us, and it just got more impressive from there! The rooms are great-- Japanese futons and plenty of heavy blankets. There's a huge commercial kitchen, completely open access; a massive common area with a roaring fire; private onsens; discounted lift tickets; etc. etc. Book the lodge-- it's a no brainer-- especially if you want to meet some great people, be close to the ski shuttle, and a short walk to the bars and restaurants in Akakura. Oh-- and did I mention it snowed 35cm+ both nights we were there? Wooooooo!”

Forrest F - Jackson Hole, USA, Feb 2017

Thanks again for dinner at Meccinova! I had a great time in Japan and can't wait to get back to the Myoko Ski Lodge again!! Until then, Best, Forest

Stuart N, - Tasmania, Jan 2017

If you are seeking a carefree ski holiday, Tania, Jeff and their daughters work hard to make that happen.
They are generous hosts and really good fun.
The lodge itself is comfortable and has everything you need. The onsens are a must at the end of a big day on the slopes.
Our family will be back!

Jeff - Colorado, USA, Jan 2017

Myoko ski lodge rules

Everything, location great, great hosts, great to have onsen. Awesome and am coming back.

Walter - Singapore, Jan 2017

I had an amazing 4 night stay at Myoko Ski Lodge. Tania, Jeff, Jon and Libby were awesome hosts. There were always there to ensure everyone was well taken care of. It may not be the most upmarket place to stay at but whatever you needed was available. From the breakfast to the beautiful fire place that we always hang out around at night to the onsen or the super comfortable futons on the tatami mat. I felt refresh everyday when i woke up and full of zest ready to hit the slopes. Thanks guys for everything and if I were to go back to Myoko next time i would definitely want to stay here again

Matias & Dani - Chamonix, France, Jan 2017

Great location and super cosy lodge. Tania, Geoff and family are super friendly and make you feel very welcome. Lodge is clean and well equipped and onsen is a real bonus. We very much enjoyed our stay at the lodge and enjoyed the seemingly limitless powder in the back country at Akakura.

Thomas - New Zealand, Jan 2017

If your heading to Myoko stay here.

Very welcoming, comfortable and clean ski lodge. Jeff and Tania (and family) went out of their way to make sure that all their guests had a great holiday both at the lodge and on the slopes. They were knowledgeable about the area which helped us plan our day trips. The breakfast was great. The onsen was a real treat at the end of the day and the tatami rooms were very comfortable. The lodge has a relaxed feel and spacious common area perfect for families and larger groups. We felt we had been welcomed into the crew and had an awesome day riding with Jeff and some of the other guests. We would highly recommend and hope to get back there ourselves.

Hilliary - NSW, Australia, Jan 2017

Warm western hospitality in traditional Japanese-style lodge

Wonderful, friendly Australian owners who made us feel like part of the family. Great to meet a range of skiers and boarders from around the world - and the lodge atmosphere is very conducive to swapping stories of epic Myoko powder days! Jeff kindly provided us with lifts to nearby ski resorts - but the lodge is within a few 100 meters of a lift and shuttle bus stop, so super easy to access several resorts. Lovely fireplace and living areas, and the rooms are very comfy with Japanese tatami mats and futons. A great way to experience Japanese style accommodation - but without a language barrier! They also have two onsen baths that can be used privately which is a nice bonus. Oh, and then there was the 2 metre powder dump, making for a really great stay :-) thanks guys...and hope to see you again!

Kay & Newton S - Tasmania, Dec 2016

We stayed at Myoko Ski Lodge over the new year 2016/17. Friendly people who picked us up at the station and welcomed us to their lodge.

Always warm and comfy inside. Open fire going. Great kitchen if you want to use it. Drying room super dry and spacious. Onsen available, clean and hot or hotter. Shinto shrine very close. Tania helped us out when a trip to the hospital was needed....

Thanks for your kindness.

Belinda & Stuart - Tasmania, Dec 2016

We had a fantastic 9 days at Myoko ski lodge. We didn't want to leave! Tania and her family were lovely and incredible hosts, the location is great, virtually ski in/out, the lodge is traditional with very pretty views, very warm, comfortable and clean with its own onsens (which is a big bonus!) Love the breakfasts too. We will be back!!!!

Jane & Richard - Tasmania, Dec 2016

We stayed at Myoko Ski Lodge with a large group of friends for 11 days in December 2016-January 2017. We had a fantastic time and will stay again. The lodge was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Having access to the kitchen gave us flexibility - if we didn't feel like going out, we could make ourselves a simple meal and stay in by the fire. The western-style breakfast that was provided was good (and although I love Japanese cuisine, it was nice to start the day with familiar food).

Tania, Geoff and the girls were excellent hosts. We felt very welcome and were looked after well beyond our expectations. Although we could buy basic groceries at the local (crazy!) stores, Tania was happy for us to join her on excursions to the larger supermarket.

I especially loved the on-site onsen. I started and finished every day with a soak and now that I'm home miss that luxury almost as much as the snow.

Great location. Great people. Fantastic holiday. Thank-you Myoko Ski Lodge.

Ronnie & Lou - Tasmania, Dec 2016

Forget the rest .Myoko Ski Lodge is the best !

We spent Chrissy and New Year in gorgeous Myoko and fell in love with Tania and Geoff’s awesome 70s style lodge. Very funky warm and spacious, with great amenities and nice cosy beds. A log fire fire burns 24/7 and there’s so much room to chill and relax after a long day in the powder. There’s a generous breakfast provided daily and the big commercial style kitchen mean’t we could cook in-house too. Loved that we could pretty much ski in and out and it’s just a short stroll to ski hire, local restaurants and shops. The snow was mind-blowing and the best bit was apre–ski …out of the ski gear in the very functional drying room then jump into the unique in-house male and female onsens  = heaven !

Myoko has such a nice laid back snow country vibe and from the moment Tania and Geoff collected us from the local station it was hospitality plus. Along with their daughters Shannon and Holly they did everything to make our stay memorable. We can’t wait to return to this winter wonderland and stay in the best lodge in town with it's really fun owners.

Amanda - Tasmania, Dec 2016

We enjoyed our stay, the lodge was comfortable in a lovely village.

An ideal location, cosy with an open fire, spacious, clean and well equipped with everything we needed. It's exactly as the photos show, we especially enjoyed the onsens and delicious fruit salad at breakfast.

Tania and family were very welcoming, easy to communicate with and accommodating, the perfect hosts. We would recommended this accommodation.

2015-2016 SKI SEASON

The place has friendly staff and a homely feel. It's basic, 'no-frills' but clean. The onsen made for a relaxing way to finish the day.

Lovely people in a lovely lodge. Really liked the traditional Japanese rooms and how close the place was to the lifts, not to mention how it had its own onsen.

Great location in a quieter part of town. Right next to the ski slopes, so access was very easy! Skiing or walking distance from Akakura Onsen resort and a 10 minute walk to Akakan as well. The lodge was great, lots of space in the common areas to hang out, read, play guitar, or chat about the day's adventures. Private onsens right in the lodge were awesome after a long day of touring! The huge drying room and gear storage was super helpful, and breakfast in the morning was a very nice surprise. The lodge is only a short walk away from the town proper with easy access to restaurants and stores there. Overall, we had a great experience! Thanks for a fun stay!!

What an awesome place to stay in beautiful quiet Myoko Kogen! I had a very relaxing and great time staying here. The facilities are great and the host's are very friendly, accommodating and informative of the local knowledge. The lodge is so very close to the ski slopes. I could ride my board to the front door! Thoroughly enjoyed lazing about in the awesome Onsen as well. Overall an awesome place to stay. Will return here for my next visit to the snow indefinitely. Thank you muchly!

Tania, Jeff and the crew made us feel very welcome, as though we were at home! The listing is accurate, its a traditional Japanese ski lodge that still strives to give you that homely western feel. It has a central location to the main strip of Akaura Onsen (3-5 min walk depending on your legs), which has plenty of shops and restaurants, including some convenient stores. The super market is a bit of hike (walk to bus stop, 5 min, then bus for 10 min, then walk for 3 min) but Tania & Jeff will point you in the right direction. The location to the ski slopes is sensational, snow permitting, it is ski in ski out from Akaura Onsen, or if your not game the lift is a 2 min walk with gear or there is a shuttle bus stop 50m from the front door of the lodge. Thanks for having us!!!!

I was unable to stay with Tania during our visit due to an unfortunate ski accident that forced us to cancel the remainder of our trip to Japan. I will say that Tania was very easy to work with while booking and always provided quick responses to my questions. She was also very understanding with our short notice cancellation. I will definitely attempt to re-book with Tania if/when I return to Myoko.

What an awesome find and time for me @ Myoko Ski Lodge. A cosy home away from home in Alpine Japan with the lifts a short stroll away. Loved the warm fire and Onsen at the end of a day on the mountain. The people, shops and restaurants of Akakura Onsen were of equal warmth and quality. The facilities were first class and particularly the commercial kitchen was well kitted out. I hadn't expected the breakfast being laid on but a good coffee and sharing plans and stories of favorite runs was invaluable. A short bullet-train ride and/or shuttle from Tokyo and Bada-Bing! Alpine Japan holiday par excellence

Amazing location with fantastic hosts. Myoko Ski Lodge was the perfect location for us to base ourselves during our ski vacation. All the facilities you need to make yourself feel at home, but still really close to all the bars and restaurants. We were truly sad to leave and will no doubt be returning again.

We loved our stay at Myoko Ski Lodge! Tania and the girls were fabulous hosts and our rooms and facilities were great. It is located close to the main street and to ski areas--all within walking distance! Or if you don't want to walk, there is a shuttle pickup close to the Lodge. We would definitely recommend staying here and hope to be back!

Great family run lodge in the middle of the ski fields. The lodge was exactly as described, great communal quarters and facilities - the onsen's in the basement were a nice treat after a days skiing. Ski lifts close by as well as being only a short walk into the little village for basic supplies. We were sad to leave after our stay.

Myoko Ski Lodge was a great place to chill after hitting the local ski hills. With the amount of powder this place gets, Myoko is definitely worth a visit!
